Book Share Group
Wednesday June 16, 2021 @ 10 a.m.
Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 10 .m. (via Zoom).  Contact us to have zoom information emailed to you, or check the website shortly before the program. The link will be posted.


Summer has arrived and with it brings the Summer Reading Program to Benzie Shores District Library! This year our summer reading program is Tails and Tales which means it is time to get WILD about reading and get your paws on a good book. Our summer reading challenge kicks off Friday, June 11th and is a great way to encourage reading and earn fun prizes!

We are celebrating all kinds of animals from pets to Pikachu!  This is a great year to unleash your imagination at the library. Starting June 14th, We will be hosting crafts and coloring pages for pick up on Menagerie Mondays. Return your coloring page to the library to have it put on display on our wild wall.  Alternating Thursdays, beginning June 24th, the library will host the Teen Table outside from 3-4 for drop in crafts, like DIY chalk, button making and bead pets. This year we also see the return of Fun Fridays,June 18th, at the library. As long as the sun is shining, Fun Fridays will be held at 10am at the Marina Pavilion where we will be moving, crafting and reading all summer long.

Make-it Monday
Pick up a new take-home craft and coloring page. Every week our coloring pages feature a new animal. Return the colored page to the library to have it featured on our wild wall!

Teen Table Thursday
Thursdays at 3:00 p.m.  (6/24, 7/8, 7/22, 8/8 & 8/9)
Join us on the library patio from 3 to 4 p.m. on alternate Thursdays for drop by DIYs, art projects, and more. Program intended for ages 12 and up. All outdoor programs are dependent on fair weather and current MDHHS programming guidelines.

Fun Friday
Fridays at 10:00 a.m.
Join us at the Mineral Springs Pavillion for movement, stories, and crafts! Program intended for young children; however, all are welcome. All outdoor programs are dependent on fair weather and current MDHHS programming guidelines.

Pokémon Party
Wednesday, August 4th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Calling all Pokemon trainers! Drop by the library August 4th from 1-2 p.m. for fun, games, and Pokemon! All outdoor programs are dependent on fair weather and current MDHHS programming guidelines.

WiFi Access
Due to capacity limits and distancing requirements, the library has limited workspace/reading space inside the library. Library WiFi is accessible in the library parking lot and patio. We also have hot spots and Chromebooks available for check out. Chromebooks and Hotspots may be borrowed for 3 days. Out of district residents are not eligible to check out devices.  Contact us for more information and availability.


CIty of Frankfort/MDOT Road Improvement Project
Frankfort is undergoing extensive road work on M-22 beginning at the bottom of Gateway Hill (A&W) through the blinking light on 7th St. Depending on your usual route to the library, this work may require a detour to get to the library. The project won't be finished until October 2021. When complete, we will have new lighting, sidewalks and much improved water infrastructure. We look forward to the finished project! Visit the Benzie Leelanau District Health Department for current COVID information, including vaccine information. You can also call the 211/United Way COVID Information line at 231-715-5557 to register for the COVID-19 vaccine.


BSDL Board Meetings

Monday, June 21st at 9:00 a.m.
The board meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the library. Please contact the library at or 231-352-4671 if special accommodations are needed, or if you would like a board packet. The meeting is open to the public.
